Course 1: Supply List
Building Buttercream Skills Reminder Sheet
What to Bring to Lesson 1:
- Wilton Course 1 Building Buttercream Skills Student Kit (this can purchased from Michael’s)
- Wilton Course 1 Building Buttercream Skills Student Guide Book
- 1 lb can Wilton Ready-To-Use Decorator Icing
- at least 6 (bring more if you like!) un-iced cupcakes *
- A container to transport the cupcakes home
- Apron
- Pen or Pencil and Paper
- Scissors
- Sticky notes
- Damp cloth
- 1 gallon-size plastic food storage or grocery bag (to carry home soiled decorating tools)
- OPTION – Wilton Ultimate Cake Decorating Set – Includes all tools needed for the first three Wilton courses. If you think you would like to take more than one course, I recommend purchasing this in place of student kit. It saves money in the long run and acquires you some great extras.
*helpful hint – You will need to bring a 1 layer un-iced 8 inch cake to the second class. When baking cupcakes for week 1, put half the batter in an 8 inch round pan (batter should fill pan half way) and the other half in a cupcake pan and bake. You’ll have 2 weeks of baking done before the first class! Once cooled, your 8 inch round cake can be wrapped tightly in saran wrap and then aluminum foil and frozen for the next class.
