About

AlexisHi.

I’m Alexis.

An artist / barber / maker / baker / calligrapher / teacher / host living in Ithaca, New York. Meeting people and making things, in one form or another, are the two things that I enjoy most. These interests have taken me around the world for work and travel, to pastry school, barber school, and a few other places in between. Ultimately they have brought me back to my home town of Ithaca, New York where I’m currently resurrecting a 67 year old motel with my wonderful husband Mark.

I keep busy as a master barber and men’s stylist at the amazing Narrative Space. I am proud to be a member of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, the Professional Beauty Association, am a Certified Wilton Method Instructor, member of the International Cake Exploration Societe, member of the Genesee Valley Calligraphy Guild, and a consummate Airbnb host. I have been featured in the publication South Asian Bride Magazine, as a guest lecturer on the Art of Cake Making, and love to collaborate with other artists, stylists and chefs. When not wielding a straight razor in my barber costume I can be found dipping pen in ink, decorating cakes, designing websites and organizational systems for business and life, reading, writing, blogging and eating donuts at an old motel with people that I like.

If you’d like to contact me about barbering, calligraphy, cake or another fun and interesting project, I’d love to hear from you! If you’re planning a visit to the Finger Lakes and want to stay at an awesome motel between two incredible state parks, or an amazing house downtown while you indulge in all of the amazing nature, food, and drink that Ithaca has to offer, we’d love to have you!
